Week 33: "Terminator" Starts Box Office Vie in China

According to EBOT statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 33rd week (Aug. 17-23, 2015) reached $139million, increasing 28% than the 32nd week, also up 31% y-o-y. Moviegoers this week totaled 25.16million, up 29% w-o-w.

After the first full week running, “Go Away Mr. Tumor” earned impressive $36.1 million for a total of $67.9 million, stepping onto the first place. Holding nearly 70% share of the Sunday market, “Terminator: Genisys” hit down $26.97 million in opening weekend. Its performance in the following week must be a stronger punch to most of the local romantic films. "Bride Wars”, took third place for a-four-day screening revenue-$24.2 million, whose box office fell quickly, after debuted with $14.81 million.

"Monster Hunt” put in additional $18.68 million to $375.2 million total gross, marching to “Furious 7” ‘s record of $391.36 million. Following was “Cities in Love” with its $8.1 million from Chinese Lovers’ Day.

Chinese animation “Monkey King: Hero is Back” added $5.57 million to its total to $151 million after 45 days in the charts. As the other animation in top 10 list, “Roco Kingdom 4” added $4.14 million in seventh place and marked $9.85 million total after 11 days.

"Jian Bing Man” made a $2.57 million weekly in eighth place, and its 38 days’ gross reached $186 million. Dante Lam’s cycling action, “To The Fore”, saw a slide since it only earned $2.55 million last week. The No. 10 was romantic suspense film “Detective Gui”, which earned $1.61 million for 11 days’ total of $6.60 million.
