Week 19: 'Avengers 2' Stormed In $155M, 'Furious 7'
According to EBOT statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 19th week (May 11-17, 2015) reached $171 million, a rising of 139% from previous week’s market, and also up 195% y-o-y. Admissions in this totaled 26.98million, expanding 114% w-o-w.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron” took over the throne of “Fast &Furious 7” in China, opening with $154.63million in six days. The Marvel superhero franchise was shown for 494 thousand times to 23.83million moviegoes in total. With making 2% of the market share, “Chappie” stepped upward to the second place and added $3.46million to $13.73million total gross. The following were two youth & romance flicks, “You Are My Sunshine” and “The Left Ear”, which earned $2.85million and $2.06million respectively.
"Fast & Furious 7” dropped to fifth place in its final week in mainland China’s market, totaling $390.87million for 36 days’ screening. "The Beloved”, a newcomer of the 20th week, only settle $1.4million kick-starting revenue. Animation "Home" added another $1.28million for $26.74million gross total in its thrid week. "Helios" dived into No.8 with $1.23million weekly gross. The other new film ranked Top 10 was “Death Trip”, a thriller, earned less than half of a million .
