Week 18: 'Furious 7' Gonna Stepping Out With $389M

According to EBOT statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 18th week (May 4-10, 2015) made $136 million, dropping 55% than its last week, and a slight decrease 9% y-o-y. Admissions in this totaled 12.57million last week, apparently down 54% than the 17th week.


 

Probably the last week for “Furious 7” standing top in China’s film market, where it earned $17.38million in the 18th week and cumed $389.26million in 29 days. “You Are My Sunshine” maintained the second place by $14.33million revenue, winning the country’s highest showing number, 227377, of the last week. Following were two rivals having close record in week 18: “Helios” getting $10.98million in its first whole week screening and “Chappie” gaining $10.26million in debut weekend. In the fifth place was “The Left Ear” embraced $10million on1.8million youth flicks fans, approaching $75million total gross.

Animated “Home” fell out of top5 in the 18th week, which only took 5.5% of the share as $3.97million weekly gross. Shadowed by “Furious 7”, the Dreamwork animation earned $25.44million for 17 days. “Murmur of the Hearts” became the last film breaking into “one million dollar club” last week, exact counting, $1.31million. Though nationwide showings totaled 21840, higher than “Murmur of the Hearts”, “Red Amnesia” was growing slowly in its second week with $820,000.

Rounding out Top10 were “Wolf Warriors” and “Alibaba and the Thief” (screening in advance), winning $740,000 and $650,000 respectively.
