Week 14: ‘Furious 7’ Speeded up Money-making in Chinese Debut
According to EBOT statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 14th week (Apr. 6-12, 2015) soared to $151million, lifting 36% w-o-w, also doubling last year’s record. Admissions this week added up to 26.2million, with relatively growing of 26% than the 13th week.
The last “Fast and Furious” installment with Paul Walker won $63.24 million during the debut weekend with over ten million admissions going to the theatres. “Furious 7” was making new records in a bunch of statistics as its daily share stood on more than 90% in the first day. Before “Furious 7” entering, the first place was taken by “Wolf Warriors”, which added $36.19 million last week into a blessing $69.7 million total. In the third place was “Let’s Get Married”, put in $19.19 million weekly gross with“Kingsman: The Secret Service” following and making a modest $18.9 million last week.
In the 14th week of China’s film market, less part of the pie was shared by small movies. “The House of Magic” earned $3.27 million.“Insanity” had $2.61 million.“Two Thumbs Up” added only $1.65 million in its second week. The next was “Outcast” with $1.36 million in eighth place, for a 10 day total of $3.86 million.
For 31 days’ screening, Disney’s “Cinderella” added $1.24 million cumulative of $71.6 million.And in tenth, local animation “Legend of A Rabbit: Martial of Fire” took $0.61 million for a 51 day total of $3.96 million.
