Week 11: 'Cinderella' Earned $28M More and 'Love and Love' Opened Strong

According to EBOT statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 11th week (Mar. 16-22, 2015) totaled $93.61million, down 6% w-o-w, yet up 54% y-o-y. Moviegoers this week slightly dropped to 17.47million, down 3% than the 10th week.

"Cinderella” maintained the crown of No. 1 film in its second week in mainland China with domestic newcomer, “Lost and Love” chasing after. The weekly gross of “Cinderella” soared to $28.27million, rising 13% from the opening weekend as its admissions mounting to 5.7million. Starring Andy Lau, Jing Boran, Tony Leung and Sandra Wu, “Lost and Love” debuted and earned $18.17million by taking 19.4% of the mainland China’s film market. The touching family moive was followed closely by “Taken 3”, earning $17million in its debut weekend. In the fourth place, “Big Hero 6” hugged $11.59million weekly gross thereafter it cumed $78million in 23 days’ screening. The next was sci-fi, “Jupiter Ascending”, gained additional $4.47million to $45million total gross.

The powerful filcks released in Lunar New Year still held their seats in top 10 listing after over a month. “The Man from Macau II” and “Wolf Totem” respectively earned $3.46million and $2.38 million in the 11th week.

The eighth place was taken by “Paddington” which stepped backward for making $1.94million in its third week’s screenig on 390162 addmissions.  Rounding out the top 10 were a new comer, “Little Big Master” with $1.74million income and the only thriller, “Nowhere to Run”, another $1.58million.
