Week 4: 'The Hobbit 3' Held on Top 1 from "Running Man"

According to EBOT, mainland boxoffice gross in the third week (Jan.26-Feb.1, 2015) reached $116million, increasing 30% from the previous week, yet down 11% y-o-y. Moviegoers this week totaled 20.75million, a growth of 37% than the third week.

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” held on first place in mainland Chinese market with 36.9% and earned another $42.84million for its second week. As the closest film to top spot, "Running Man” started off gainful campaign of boxoffice, gaining over $37million from 7.3million enthusiastic moviegoers in the last week of January. In the third place, “Boonie Bears: Mystical Winter”, an installment of animated series, took $16.1 weekly gross after official release on January 30. “Miss Granny” paced down in the fourth place; it added $5.35million into $57.43million total gross for another week in cinemas. The other animated film “Amazing Pleasant Goat” was ranked No. 5 and made a modest $4.17million debut record.

Ben Stiller’s “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” dropped to the sixth place, calculating $5.61million total gross for showing 29 days in mainland China. Behind it was Angelina Jolie’s "Unbroken”, which debuted in the last week with $2.4million. “The Seventh Son” continued losing ground from new films, and back to No.8, making only $1.56million in the 4th week. Since the shrinking of admissions and showings, “The Taking of the Tiger Mountain” gained $1million for 0.9% market share and “Lotus Code” took 0.54million from bottom of the top 10 list.
