Week 47 Preview: Kung Fu Master vs. Allies Sergeant
According to Enbase’s China film boxoffice statistics, six films below will debut in Mainland China in the 47th week (Nov. 17-23). Four domestic (including a China-Hong Kong co-production) and two imported film from U.S. are scheduled on the same day, November 21, 2014. Low budget comedy romances, “Deng Ni Zhui Wo”, “Destiny of Love” and “Fiji Love” will hardly take a breath even avoid the clash with “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2”, “The Best Plan Is No Plan” and “Interstellar” in the previous week. The Qing Dynasty anecdote of Wong Fei Hung, “Rise of the Legend”, will be the most forceful upcoming film in the 47th week, presenting the popular youth image of Eddie Peng and a famous Kung Fu master, Sammo Hung. Rising a issue with becoming an adult, “21 and Over” will meet the Chinese audiences after its showing in America last year. Also, “Fury” will set the battle fire in mainland China, challenging “Rise of the Legend” at zero o’ clock on Friday.
Enbase’s film marketing statics shows that, “A Rise of the Legend” owned higher awareness than “Fury” from Nov. 9 to Nov. 15. The awareness index of “A Rise of the Legend” started at 4.35 on November 9, twelve days before screening. It was 0.47 higher than “Fury”, also getting 90,567 more clicks of its promotional videos (eg. trailers) than its competitor from four mainstream video sites--Youku, Tudou, Tencent Video and iQiyi. Both seeing a slightly down on November 10, the two films drew more moviegoers’ attentions since November 11. The awareness index of “A Rise of the Legend” flew to 7.18 after the clicking on the video sites firstly surmount 1million. In the following two days, “A Rise of the Legend” was still climbing up to 8.18 audience’s awareness, while “Fury” touched the top at 4.63 and then dropped by 4.57. On November 15, last Saturday, the clicks of videos soared due to large quantity of entertainment browsing during holiday, however, the awareness indexes of two films were relatively low at 6.66 of "A Rise of the Legend" and 4.51 of "Fury".
