According to Enbase’s China film boxoffice statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 42nd week (Oct 13-19, 2014) reached $74.19million, slide 34%, comparing to last week, yet up 36% y-o-y. The total admissions shrank into 12.59million last week, less 36% than the previous week.
In the 42nd week, "Guardians of the Galaxy" absorbed a $37.97million weekly gross, surpassing the “Breakup Buddies” for the first ten-day journey in Mainland China. The domestic road-trip comedy has grossed $172.16million when its weekly income shrank into $19.96million, still taking 26.9% of the market share. “Dearest” maintained the third place with an additional $4.83million into $52.67million total gross. As for the 42nd week newly comer, “Ice Age: The Meltdown” ‘s box office accounted for 5.8% of mainland market and earned $4.32million in the fourth place. The No. 5 boxoffice shareholder, “Black & White Episode 2” gained $1.53million when weekly showings were only 34157, half of the number as “Ice Age”."Bugs", the Chinese pest disaster sci-fi, maintained the sixth place, with less $20,000 than “Ice Age”. The Taiwanese youth romance “Cafe Waiting Love” closely followed the “Bugs”, weekly income was close to $1.15million with 26,089showings and 225,819 admissions. Declining from the fifth place to the eighth, “The Golden Era”, obtained $73,000 for the third week. Rounding out the top 10 were thriller “Double Exposure” and drama “Blue Bones”, contributing almost one million to the 42nd week Mainland China boxoffice total gross.
According to Enbase’s China film boxoffice statistics, 13 films below will be released in Mainland China in the 43rd week. The imported blockbuster, “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” will open this week’s boxoffice competition with domestic drama “Factory Boss” on Tuesday. His powerful rival onto stage will be “Lucy”, leading by Scarlett Johnson, with a subverting “beauty goddess” image to most Chinese audiences. Altogether with the above films, two romances: “Five Minute to Tomorrow”, “Sex Apeal”, a crime and suspense “Target”, an animation “Shen Jian Chuan Qi”, a thriller "Midnight Garage” and a Kungfu film “Hero of the River” will start their debuts on the 43rd week in Mainland China.
