Week 37: 'Apes' Crawled back to the Top
According to Enbase’s China film boxoffice statistics, mainland boxoffice gross in the 37th week (Sep. 8-14, 2014) reached $79.34 million, increased 12% comparing to last week, yet up 94% y-o-y. The total admissions declined into 14.96 million last week, drop 12% than the previous week.
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" climbed back to the top in its 4th week on screens, taking in a fair $20.08 million in weekly gross. Last week champion, “The Expendables 3” followed closely with $20.04, sharing about a quarter of the market as well as its strongest competitor. Romance "But always" kept the third place with a doubled market share and $16.13 weekly gross in the 37th week. Hollywood sci-fi “Divergent” ranked fourth place with total $9.37 million in first week’s adventure in Mainland China. “Into the Strom”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Inside the Girls” respectively gained $7.62 mn, $1.65mn and $1.08mn in three days screening.
Altogether $1.9 million, “Tale of the Rally”, “Delhi Safari” and “How to Train your dragon 2” took last three places of the 37th week B.O. Top 10 in Mainland China.
In the 38th week (Sep. 15-21, 2014), the films below will be released in Mainland China. With 6 films coming to cinemas, the mainland market continues to heat up new entries vie for ticket sales.
