Weekend Report: Domestic Films Rules over Weekend
After 7 million people pouring into the theatres, the box office revenue of the past three days finished at approximately $40 million. The mainland marketplace saw signs of a pickup after a cold spell. Domestic films are eager to roll out for the New Year movie season, one of the most bankable timeslot in China.
Distributed by Enlight Pictures, The Four 2 opened to $13.8 million in three days. No Man's Land took in $12.09 for a cumulative gross of $21.6 million. Imported flick Welcome to the Punch was overestimated by Chinese theaters and media outlets. Though enjoying 10.3 percent of the total screenings, the Jame McAvoy starrer brought in meager $0.63 million in the past weekend. Eventually, the box office chart was dominated by Chinese films.
