You might be surprised by the rise of a cinema-going culture in a market rampant with piracy, but China suffered for years from a paucity of good content, quality movie theaters and, unsurprisingly, customers willing to pay more to see this bad content in bad theaters. In the first deal of its kind, DreamWorks Animation has signed an agreement with Youku.com, a Chinese site used for streaming videos. The two organizations will bring the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise online in Mainland China, according to the press release,the first time any DreamWorks films have been made available in China through the Internet.
