CCTV-6, the movie channel of China Central Television, has initiated a campaign to find new filming talents across China.
The channel is working with seven video websites, including Tudou and Youku. Participants are invited to upload their short film plans onto the websites, and a jury of filmmakers and scholars will shortlist 12 of them. Every team will be guided by a senior filmmaker and financially supported to create a short film, to be shown on the websites and CCTV-6 by April 2013.
Actor Huang Xiaoming works as the campaign's face. The 35-year-old star promises winning teams will get a contract with his studio, which has produced some young directors' works, such as Yang Shupeng's An Inaccurate Memoir.
