Pleasant Goat vs Monkey King
Hit Chinese animation series "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf", based on the popular eponymous TV series, will premier its new dragon-themed film on January 12th next year. However, Pleasant Goat's usual sweeping dominance of box office sales is not guaranteed in the upcoming season, as it faces stiff competition from the much anticipated 3D version of the 1961 classic "Havoc in Heaven", whose debut is set for the same day.
Previous Pleasant Goat movies have met with huge success at the box office. The series' adorable characters and tales of adventure have won the hearts of children and adults alike.
While Pleasant Goat has worked for years to build an audience by promoting its cute characters, "Havoc in Heaven", first released in 1961 and again in 1964 and widely considered to be a masterpiece, already has a solid audience base.
One of the highlights of the 3D version will be its voices. The producers invited dozens of domestic A-list stars to voice the classic characters and pins hopes on this as a selling point for the animated film.
The original release of "Havoc in Heaven", which was produced by all four Wan brothers, met with international critical acclaim, and still stands today as one of the most celebrated animated films ever made.
