World Tourism Cities Film Festival Begins in Beijing
The World Tourism Cities Film Festival, organized by World Tourism Cities Federation (WICF) and supported by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism development and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television, began yesterday in the Chinese capital, chinesefilms.cn reports.
Lu Yang, Deputy Mayor of Beijing, attended the opening ceremony and announced the beginning of the two-day festival during which 20 domestic and foreign films will be screened in 10 major cinemas.
Moviegoers can enjoy the classic romance "Roman Holiday" starring Audrey Hepburn, the biopic "The Queen" starring Helen Mirren, Tsui Hark's wuxia drama "Detective Lee" and Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol" free of charge.
The festival's theme "travel along with film." It is a sub-activity of the World Tourism Cities Federation founding conference, which aims at publicizing the impressive landscapes and abundant resources of tourism cities in the world. It also shows the specialties of its member cities as well as the international urban styles and features of Beijing.
