Senior Official Stresses Innovation in Culture Sector
BEIJING, Aug. 23 -- Senior Chinese official Li Changchun urged on Thursday to promote China's cultural development through advanced technologies.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark during a visit to the 2012 Beijing International Radio, Film and Television Equipment Exhibition.
"Enterprises in the cultural sector should promote the technical element in their products through improved equipment," said Li, adding that China should develop core technologies featuring independent innovation.
Reviewing some new technological achievements in the TV and broadcast sectors, Li spoke highly of the new achievements made through the integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networks and the Internet.
Li also called on institutions of higher education and scientific research to pay high attention to technological research and market promotion in order to foster world-renowned brands and boost the country's cultural influence on the world stage.
The exhibition, which will run from Aug. 22 to 25, was sponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
It aims to showcase the latest technology and equipment from the broadcast, film and television service industries, covering film collection, editing, producing, broadcasting and management.
