James Cameron Holds Launching Ceremony for Beijing Documentary
James Cameron, US director of Titanic and Avatar, attended a launching ceremony of Cameron-Pace Group (CPG) at Beijing's National Museum of China yesterday. He also finalized a joint venture for his latest 3D documentary, Beijing: The Imperial Capital.
CPG, co-founded by Cameron and Vince Pace, aims to be an industry leader in 3D technology and production services. CPG China, located in Tianjing, is the first CPG division in China.
Responsible for the 3D production of Titanic, CPG will take charge of the 3D technology services in Cameron's latest project, Beijing: The Imperial Capital.
As China's imperial capital for over 800 years, Beijing carries the culture of the country with historic sites like the Great Wall, Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. The documentary will cover the culture and customs of Beijing.
"Most people regard me as a filmmaker of Avatar and Titanic but I am actually here today as a businessman, [who will make] big investments here in China and form a partnership…in the history of media and entertainment," said Cameron at the press conference.
Cameron said that he is not in China solely to make a movie, but he is here to make a movie better.
"We looked around the world for a place where we thought the biggest changes could happen the most rapidly," he said.
