Mark Chao Promotes an Upcoming Chinese-French Film
The 48-million-US dollar budget film Warriors' Gate is currently being promoted by Chinese-Canadian singer-actor Mark Chao in Beijing, ahead of its release in China.
Mark Chao stars in the movie as a young warrior and boasts a number of fight scenes.
"I portray a warrior with a rich experience in the battlefield, and my character is very brave and capable of various types of martial arts. Also, I sometimes need to speak English in order to add a comic touch to the movie."
The action-adventure film Warrior's Gate or Yong Shi Zhi Men in Chinese, is scripted by Luc Besson and directed by Matthias HoeneIs.
Versatile Hong Kong actor Francis Ng and mainland actress Ni Ni also star in the movie.
Ni Ni is best known for her role as Yu Mo in the 2011 film The Flowers of War directed by Zhang Yimou.
The film is co-produced by China's Fundamental Films alongside Besson's EuropaCorp, with Fundamental Films fully financing the project and EuropaCorp handling international sales.
Overseas filmmakers want China's co-production status because films granted such a designation are treated as domestic films.
The film is due for release on November 18.
