Paramount Channel to Launch in Asia
Viacom International Media’s Paramount Channel will launch in Asia following a first deal in Thailand.
The movie channel will operate on CTH’s traditional satellite and over-the-top streaming service from May. The agreement also includes a new licensing deal for MTV Thailand which moved over to CTH from last month.
CTH and VIMN Asia will jointly manage advertising sales for both Paramount Channel and MTV Thailand. MTV Thailand will continue to operate as a fully localized channel, made in Thailand for Thai viewers.
"The introduction of Paramount Channel in Asia is a key, strategic step in deepening our presence both in Thailand and in Asia, while expanding our portfolio of adult-targeted brands,” said Mark Whitehead, executive VP and MD for VIMN Asia.
The Paramount Channel is currently operational in Spain, France, Russia, Romania, Hungary and Latin America. It launches in Italy from this month. In Asia, VIMN also has MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, MTV Live and MTV China.
