Dick Cook Studios has partnered with Chinese state-owned enterprise Citic Guoan and the Beijing Film Academy to create a new China-U.S. Motion Picture Summit, to be held near Beijing in March.
The event is supported by the China Media Culture Promotion Association, an industry body with ties to China's media and entertainment regulator, the State Administration of Press Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).
The conference will take place March 25 in Grand Epoch City, a large tourist resort and conference that was built to look like a small-scale version of Beijing's old walled city.
"The Summit will bring together top executives, award-winning filmmakers, writers, technology leaders and corporate delegates to address industry trends and strategies for success between the Chinese and U.S. entertainment businesses," organizers said in a statement.
Winston Baker, creator of the influential Film Finance Forum series, will produce the summit. Film Carnival, a private entertainment company based in Zhejiang Province, was announced as a strategic partner of the event.
Former Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook established Dick Cook Studios last March with a $150 million investment from Citic Guoan, a unit of the giant Chinese conglomerate Citic Group. The company, based in Los Angeles, is focused on creating family-oriented movies, TV shows and other entertainment.
