Celestial Tiger Renews Trio of Output Deals
Celestial Tiger Entertainment, the Asian TV group backed by Saban Capital and Lionsgate, has renewed a trio of output deals giving it rights in South East Asian markets to a stream of top Hong Kong movies.
The agreements are with Emperor Motion Pictures, Mega-Vision Project Workshop Limited and Universe Entertainment. The deals secure first and exclusive pay TV rights, as well as pay-per-view (PPV), video-on-demand (VOD) and over-the-top (OTT) rights to each studio’s upcoming slate of movies for CTE’s flagship channel, Celestial Movies, in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.
Upcoming features from Mega-Vision include “From Vegas to Macau III” (aka “The Man From Macau III”) with Andy Lau, Chow Yun-fat and Nick Cheung. The Emperor slate is headed by “Kill Time,” a suspense thriller starring idols Ethan Ruan and Angelababy, and directed by Fruit Chan. Universe is readying action movie “The Deadly Reclaim,” by blockbuster director Benny Chan and action director Sammo Hung, with a cast including Sean Lau, Louis Koo and Eddie Peng.
Hong Kong-based CTE operates a bouquet of channels including Celestial Movies, Celestial Classic Movies, entertainment channel cHK, action channel KIX and genre-powered Thrill. CTE is also the exclusive sales agent for Hollywood studio Lionsgate in Greater China and Southeast Asia, and also represents Lionsgate’s television content and feature film library in Japan and Korea.
