Chinese Superhero Comedy 'Pancake Man' Gets North American, Australia, NZ Release Date
The hit quirky action flick also stars Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Pancake Man (Jian Bing Man), the superhero parody film that opened to an impressive $69.02 million at the Chinese box office last week, is set for a select international release later in July.
The film tells the story of a poor street food vendor who gains super powers from his pancakes (jian bing). Pancake Man features Jean-Claude Van Damme as a villain and is written, directed and stars Da Peng, who is a well-known in China for his web series Diors Man.
Sohu Video, New Classics Media and Wanda Pictures has set release dates for Pancake Man in North America, Australia and New Zealand. Exact dates and locations are July 23 in Melbourne, Australia, July 24 in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego, Boston, San Francisco and Seattle in the U.S., as well as Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, and July 30 in Auckland, New Zealand.
