Chinese actor Francis Ng (“The Mission”) has joined the cast of Matthias Hoene’s action-adventure film “Warrior’s Gate,” scripted by Luc Besson and Robert Kamen.
He joins a cast that already includes Dave Bautista, Mark Zhao, Ni Ni, Uriah Shelton, and Sienna Guillory.
The film is co-produced by China’s Fundamental Films alongside Besson’s EuropaCorp, with Fundamental Films fully financing the project and EuropaCorp handling international sales.
“We want to help spread Chinese culture across the world through the power of film. ‘Warrior’s Gate’ is shaping up to be the most powerful of them all. We’re delighted that international audiences will have the opportunity to see Francis Ng, one of our region’s brightest stars, in action,” said Fundamental chairman Mark Gao.
Ng started working with Hong Kong contemporaries Tony Leung and Stephen Chow, and has a 30-year career playing iconic, lovable characters. He has won acting prizes at both the Hong Kong and Golden Horse Film Awards. He is best known for TVB airline comedy-drama “Triumph in the Skies.”
The next five years will see Fundamental and EuropaCorp come together on the development and release of a number of French-Chinese co-productions, including Luc Besson’s graphic-novel adaptation “Valerian” and the upcoming “Transporter” reboot.
