Eyes On Chinese Site of 20th Century Fox Park
The site of 20th Century Fox Inc’s first amusement park in China will be unveiled within a few months as Rupert Murdoch’s film and television company seeks a foothold in one of the world’s fastest-growing entertainment market, a company executive said.
"We’ve been talking with several provincial governments to decide on the final destination for our first opening (of the park) in China,” Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products, said in an interview with Shanghai Daily yesterday.
The company is also seeking to open 50 retail stores in China for licensed products of its animated series The Simpsons by the end of 2016. It aims to market The Simpsons as a fashion brand complete with costumes and accessories.
But Godsick refused to disclose the potential sales figures for The Simpsons’ licensed products in China or the company’s investment in the country.
The retail stores will sell licensed clothes and apparels as well as other fashion items to help Fox capture the booming culture and entertainment market in China seen to potentially beat the US, Godsick said.
