'China’s Next Top Model’ To Be Produced by IPCN
Rights and formats broker IPCN will co-produce the next season of hit reality show “China’s Next Top Model.” The recently refinanced company was commissioned by ChongQing Satellite Television.
The 12-part show will feature 30 aspiring models selected from 50,000 applicants. The series is being shot in Shanghai and Chongqing with a finale to take place in London.
Celebrity judges include Lynn Hung (aka Xiong Dailin), one of China’s most successful fashion model-actresses; China’s top male model Sean Zhang ( aka Zhang Liang), with over 10 million social-media followers; and Lucia Liu (Liu Lu), style director for Harper’s Bazaar China.
The series is commissioned by Liu Xuewei, vice director of CQTV and executive produced by IPCN’s CEO Rebecca Yang.
"It’s the first time the show has been produced to such a high standard, and we’re delighted to be bringing IPCN’s expert Chinese production crew to London to shoot the finale in collaboration with our London-based team,” said Yang.
IPCN, founded by former ITV executive Mick Desmond, recently announced a major investment from Gravity, an investment vehicle belonging to China Media Capital. The company will use the new finance to boost IP creation and original content production for domestic Chinese and global broadcast markets with a focus on non-scripted formats, scripted drama and comedy.
