New Online Platform Brings Fans, Stars Together
China's leading film production company Huayi Brothers Media Corp and one of China's Internet giants Tencent Holdings Ltd officially co-released an entertainment social networking platform on Wednesday, aiming to explore the huge fan market.
The platform can be seen as a combination of entertainment sector and Internet. As the first mobile Internet product through cooperation by Huayi and Tencent, it went online in December of last year. It offered an upgraded method for interactions between fans and stars.
"Huayi Brothers is rich in film content and film star resources, while Tencent enjoys an immense user base. This partnership complements each other's advantages," said Wang Zhongjun, chairman of Huayi Brothers.
Cultural and entertainment industry has very strong user viscosity, and celebrities are the resources which enjoy the most influence, said Liu Chiping, president of Tencent Holdings Ltd.
Establishing the connections between fans and stars are also in line with Tencent's aim of "connecting everything", said Liu.
So far, as many as 126 stars have joined the platform, and the average daily active users have exceeded 10 million.
