Public Appearance Fees for Chinese Celebs
A list ranking commercial appearance fees for Chinese celebrities was recently published and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing topped the list with 1.35 million yuan ($216,493) per appearance, according to Hong Kong media on.cc.
Fan, who topped the Forbes' list of most luminous celebrities of 2014, beat fellow actress and first runner-up Li Bingbing by 100,000 yuan ($16,036).
Fan has become an active player upon the international film scene. She has been promoting her latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past, which also stars Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence and Halle Berry. And of course Fan will be able to charge more for commercial appearances as her reputation abroad grows.
Actress Li Bingbing, often regarded as Fan's rival for their identical given names, will not sit and wait to be outdone. Li is in the upcoming US blockbuster film Trasnformers: Age of Extinction, which will hit theaters next month.
Actresses Zhang Ziyi and Zhou Xun followed on the list with 120 million yuan ($192,441) and 115 million yuan ($184,422). The actresses' ability to charge more is no less inferior to the two 'Bingbings,' but they have not made as many commercial appearances in recent years. For these two talented actresses, friendship and connections played more important roles when deciding to attend commercial events, and not the price paid by the organizers.
For celebrities from Taiwan, singer Jay Chou topped the list with 125 million yuan ($200,465) per appearance, followed by model Chiling Lin at 105 million yuan ($168,390). As for Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung and singer Alan Tam tied for first place at 105 million yuan ($168,390), followed by singer Kelly Chan at 900,000 yuan (U144,338).
