A Bite of China Movie to Be Screened
The second season of "A bite of China", the wildly popular documentary series produced by China Central Television (CCTV), has returned to the airwaves.
Now, the production seems unsatisfied with the TV confines of the documentary and is planning on making it's a film version featuring a romantic love story.
On May 26, CCTV, China International Television Corporation and Zhejiang Donghai Film Group jointly announced in Beijing that they will cooperate in filming the movie version of "A Bite of China".
A bite of China first hit the air in May 2012 on CCTV's mandarin channel. Soon after the series hit the airwaves, China's Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo began stirring with excitement. This season includes eight episodes and will cover the stories of more than 150 people, and over 300 types of food.
It is also popular among overseas Chinese populations, . On May 26, Chairperson of the Donghai Group Ni Zhengwei said, "It can be a story of looking food, and it can be a healing journey."
Reporters learned that the script for the proposed film version of "A Bite of China" is still in development and the director has yet to be confirmed. On May 26, Chen Xiaoqing, chief director of the second season of "A Bite of China" attended the meeting.
"The story is about two young people together, pursuing the nature of love and we hope to find stars to film it, like Nicholas Tse."
