ATF: ITV Adds Digital, Film And Format Deals in Asia
ITV Studios Global Entertainment, the sales and distribution arm of UK commercial broadcaster ITV, has unveiled a number of digital distribution and format deals in Asia.
In Singapore it signed a multi-year output agreement with Mediacorp to deliver more than 200 hours annually of entertainment programming to Mediacorp’s VoD service, Toggle. For the second year of the deal, Toggle has acquired titles such as “Hell’s Kitchen USA,” “Cook Me The Money” and “May The Best House Win.”
In China, VoD service Sohu acquired 100 hours of factual programming including “I Shouldn’t Be Alive” and “Built From Disaster.”
In Korea, IPTV platform KT Mediahub acquired 150 hours of drama, entertainment and factual content including “Agatha Christie’s Marple,” “Case Histories” and “Murdoch Mysteries.” Korean digital cable VoD service Home Choice acquired 80 hours of classic films from ITV’s library, such including “All Quiet On The Western Front” (1979), “Brief Encounter” (1974) and “Hamlet” (1948).
“These deals illustrate the demand from the growing number of new media operators in Asia for high quality content,” said Hyeonza Hong, VP sales, Asia, ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
ITV also struck three format deals in China, Korea and Vietnam. Tincom Media in Vietnam has ordered ITV Studios’ “Soapstar Superstar,” a show which puts TV drama stars into a singing contest format, and will be retitled as “Superstar.”
China’s Anhui TV has commissioned a 13 x 60 minute series of primetime game show “Holding Out For A Hero,” in which contestants compete to win a life-changing sum of money for a deserving local hero. The original show was produced by 12 Yard Productions and represented by ITVSGE.
Korea’s KBS has commissioned 12 Yard’s “Top Dog Model,” a series about canine modeling, which will be retitled as “Superdog” and screened on KBS2.
