The China Television Drama Production Industry Association held its inaugural meeting in Beijing in August and published its bylaws, according to the Beijing Daily.
A total of 138 production companies have joined the association. Together, they produce two-thirds of the programming shown during TV's "golden hour" across the nation. The association's published bylaws state that TV shows must respect mainstream values, laws, intellectual property and the rights of playwrights, directors and actors, as well as the needs of TV viewers. The association will hold a production forum every year to discuss issues. The first forum will be held this November in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
