Zhejiang Satellite TV's ace show "Voice of China" will debut in Taiwan, China.org.cn has recently learned.
As the second season of the show keeps breaking all TV ratings, Taiwan's Chung T'ien Television's (Cti TV's) CTi Variety channel will air the show during prime time starting from September 7, 2013. It is set to air at 8 p.m. every Saturday from thereon.
"Voice of China" is very popular in Taiwan and even got nods from Taiwan's Ministry of Culture. Taiwan has just started screening the Chinese mainland's CCTV Spring Festival Gala in recent years. The "Voice of China" successfully landing on the island, will turn a new page for cross-Strait TV program exchanges, observers have said.
The show's major attraction includes the presence of two Taiwanese coaches: A-Mei and Harlem Yu. The other two, rocker Wang Feng and diva Na Ying, are from the mainland. There are also several contestants from Taiwan featured on the show.
"Taiwanese people love the two Taiwan coaches," an executive of Cti TV said, "'Voice of China' is like a big cuisine. Compared to it, other Taiwan singing competitions are just casual family dishes."
Lu Wei, the spokesman for "Voice of China,", said Taiwan had imported the show just because its big influence across global Chinese communities.
"Common talent shows are very much localized; other people from other countries and regions don't care about who they elect the winner. Therefore, the 'Voice of China' is unlike any other show. It attracts audiences for its humane values and grassroots dreams, as well as the relationship between coaches and students and the friendship among contestants."
He added, "General director Jin Lei once said the show was expected to show the confidence and spirit of the Chinese people, which goes far beyond the borders."
