The 2nd Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) held a press conference in Beijing Government News Office on Monday, December26, 2011. Luan Zhiguo, the deputy inspector of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television(SARFT) and vice chairman of BJIFF, Li Chuliang and Pang Wei, vice secretaries of BJIFF attended this press conference. Hang Jinglin, deputy director of People's Government Beijing Municipality Information Office, hosted the conference.
The festival's organization committee reviewed and summarized the 1st Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), which was run from April 23th to 28th, 2011. The 1st Beijing International Film Festival was comprised of the Opening Ceremony, Beijing Film Extravaganza, Film Magic Beijing Forum, Beijing Film Marketing negotiation, Film Music Concerts and Closing Ceremony, including Beijing College Student Film Festival, Beijing Youth Public Welfare Film Festival, Beijing Ethnic Movies Show and other relevant activities. 700 abroad and domestic film institutions with 2000 honored guests , and around 10 thousand residents from Beijing participated the festival and selected 230 films from 42 countries and regions which were showed 429 runs in 20 cinemas.
Statistics showed that Chinese and International 334 film institutions with more than 800 professionals, attended the marketing negotiation, signed contracts of total 27.94billion RMB which was the biggest ever signed in all film festivals held in China. Meanwhile, the opening & closing ceremony of film festival, directors' forum, professional seminar and music concerts were so highly praised by ordinary audiences that the festival has already become the Beijing another new city cultural brand.
Beijing International Film Festival organization committee released the 2nd BJIFF's overall programs on the conference. Based on the principle of "consolidation, optimizing, innovation and development", the festival of this year will absorb the 1st film festival's successful experience, keeping opening-close ceremony, forum, movie show, contract signing and film concert and adds a new movie carnival.
The festival will continuously innovate and develop to make more international influence and finally become international famous film festival . In this year the festival will not have promotional ambassadors which were Jackie Chan and Zhang Ziyi in last year.
The festival will use the Olympic Park as the core region from April 23th to 28th, 2012. State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television (BMBRFT) are the organizers .The undertakers are the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television.
Opening ceremony will invite Chinese and International filmmakers and famous people to attend, and advanced technology will be used on it. Beijing movie show as the main event will concentrate on selecting the nominated and rewarded films of domestic and international film festivals to develop the overall quantity and quality of the films in this festival .Nine cinemas will be used to show them.
Film carnival will be the fresh program in this film festival. It will focus on public participation of ordinary people, such as outdoor movies shows, film products sales, interactive games, arts performances and dialogues, etc.
