Beijing Shijingshan's Creative Industry Booms
Inside the Beijing Digital Entertainment Demonstration Base, Shijingshan District rapidly developed its digital entertainment industry, including online games, film and television, animation and cartoon and digital new media.
So far, ten top online gaming enterprises have set up headquarters or branch offices in Shijingshan. Recreation Spring and Autumn, an online game company, made 35.5 million yuan (US$5.71 million) in 2012 and the average annual revenue growth rate reached 70 percent. As of March 2012, the number of registered users exceeded 40 million on platform of the game "Iccgame."
However, due to game plug-in infringement, the company lost a large amount of game users. Local public security bureau immediately solved the case and recovered the company's losses.
The case is a great example of companies using legal action to protect their intellectual property, and of the district providing high-quality service to its companies, Li Yan, vice chief of the district, said.
More than 3,000 cultural and creative enterprises have gathered in Shijingshan. In 2012, total output of registered animation, cartoon and online game companies in Shijingshan reached 8.6 billion yuan (US$1.38 billion), accounting for 51.3 percent of industry's total output in Beijing.
In addition, a lot of enterprises are listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen and set up branch offices in Asia and Europe.
