Release Date of "You are the Apple of My Eye" in Mainland Confirmed
When the Taiwanese film "You are the Apple of My Eye" successfully passed the Chinese mainland film censorship board, the production company behind the film immediately announced that the film is set to hit theatres on January 6, 2012. And a mainland-edition promotional trailer and poster had also been released, mtime.com reports.
The film is directed by and stars Giddens Ko, and was supervised by "The mother of Taiwanese Idol Play" Chai Zhiping. Adapted from the director's own experiences, "You are the apple of My Eye" centers around stories of friends, youth and first love.
After "You are the apple of My Eye" was released to the public in Taiwan and Hong Kong, some large-scale plots have triggered intense discussion between the audiences. According to the production team, the mainland edition will just be altered slightly, while remaining close to the original conception of the director.
The film is still being screened in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Reportedly, it has raked in 410 million Taiwanese Yuan so far, making it the third most successful homegrown film in Taiwan.
In Hong Kong, the film made around 60 million Hong Kong Dollars since its release day, the film is looking forward to topping the highest title on the local chart, Stephen Chow's 2005 film, Kung Fu Hustle which made 61.28 million Hong Kong Dollars.
