'Life of Pi' Among Top 100 Highest-grossing Films Ever
Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's shipwreck epic “Life of Pi” has emerged as one of the world's 100 highest grossing films of all time, according to the website Box Office Mojo.
As of Jan. 27, the Taiwanese director's latest film had raked in more than US$525.9 million worldwide, making it the 98th highest-grossing film of all time, the website's figures showed.
“Life of Pi,” a 3D adaption of Canadian novelist Yann Martel's 2002 Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name, premiered in Japan last week and soon emerged as the top grossing film of the week in that country, according to the film's distributor 20th Century FoxCorp.
The film, more than 80 percent of which was shot in Taiwan, was also the highest grossing film in Australia and the United Kingdom last week, 20th Century Fox said.
