Baidu has acquired Chinese movierecommendation site Jinwankansha.com (aka. What to watch tonight), Sohu IT reported, citing an unnamed industry source.
The site, launched this June, recommends movies and TV shows based on users’ preference via choosing eight favorite movies or shows. Besides normal categorization of movie genres, the site also groups movies through emotions such as touching and shocking.
TheJinwankansha team now reports to Hu Hao, who oversees Baidu’s video and news search, the source said.
Baidu is also poaching talent from web portals to improve its news search, according to the report.
