Fuzhou Launches Internet and Multimedia Summit
The first China International Creative Economy Cooperation Conference and eighth World Summit on Internet and Multimedia (WSIM) were held in Fuzhou from Nov 27 to 28. The events were jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Fujian provincial government and International Federation of Multimedia Associations (FIAM). They were co-organized by the Economic Information Department of the CCPIT, the CCPIT Fujian Sub-Council and the Fuzhou municipal government.
The World Summit on Internet and Multimedia, launched by FIAM in 2004, is a global event. This year, the summit focused on the topics of “Innovation: Driving Economic Growth / Digital Age: Changing Future Lifestyles”. The summit featured forums, cooperation base construction, signing ceremonies, matchmaking meetings and film festivals. The event will help develop digital film, animation, games and international talent training in Fuzhou city and Fujian province.
The summit invited guest speakers from UN-related organizations and 17 countries and regions, including the US, Canada and Britain. More than 300 experts from domestic institutions and internationally renowned organizations, enterprises and financing groups attended the summit.
China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Russia launched the Initiative for BRICS Digital and Creative Economy Cooperation (Fuzhou) and signed an agreement on the establishment of a BRICS Digital Creative Industry Cooperation Center.
