Oscar Winner "A Separation" Gets Mainland Release
"A Separation", the winner of Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards in 2012, has finally been granted a mainland release date. On November 13, the film will open across the country in mainland cinemas, Mtime.com reports.
To date, "A Separation" has won 43 awards, including Golden Bear for Best Film at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival and Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes.
"A Separation" is a 2011 Iranian drama written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, starring Leila Hatami, Peyman Moaadi, Shahab Hosseini, Sareh Bayat, and Sarina Farhadi. The film focuses on an Iranian middle-class couple who separate, and the conflicts that arise when the husband hires a care worker from a lower-class for the benefit of his elderly father who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
