Mainland Box Office Chart for Week 9, 2013
According to entFilmbase’s China film box office statistics, the mainland box office gross in the 9th week of 2013(Feb. 25-Mar. 3, 2013) was¥366 million (about $58 million USD), a 39% decrease compared to last week and increased 77% y-o-y. Moviegoers this week totaled 9.68 million.
Journey to the West maintained its top ranking for the fourth straight week, extending its total gross to ¥1.14 billion. —still a long way to move past the ¥1.26 billion box office landmark set by Lost in Thailand. The Hobbit, a US-New Zealand visual feast directed by Peter Jackson, grossed ¥115.87 million through the past seven days. Considering the four-day earnings of ¥25.1 million, it was a miserable week for Les Miserables. Local films accounted for 49% of total box office gross during last week.
