Cristal Pictures to Produce Science-Fiction Disaster Movie 'Imago'
Los Angeles- and Beijing-based Cristal Pictures has set its next project, the science-fiction disaster movie Imago.
The feature will be the first fully financed project for Cristal, which most recently co-financed and co-produced Millennium Films' Hitman’s Bodyguard, starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson.
Imago will be a Chinese co-production and is looking to cast both Chinese and Western actors. It will be shot entirely on location in and around Hong Kong.
The movie, written by Adam Robitel and Gavin Heffernan, takes place in the near future, when scientific experiments intended to reverse global warming backfire to unimaginable consequences.
Robitel and Heffernan worked on the rewrite for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension for Paramount.
Robitel is repped by CAA and Zero Gravity; Heffernan is with APA and Zero Gravity.
Cristal was founded and backed by Chinese media company East Light Film Company to finance and produce English-language motion pictures for global audiences, with an emphasis placed on Chinese markets.
