'Dance Your A** Off'
LONDON -- NBCUniversal has sold its weight-loss dance challenge format "Dance Your A** Off" to Chinese broadcaster ZheJiang Satellite TV.
The Chinese version of the show, which premiered on Oxygen in the U.S. in 2009, will be the fourth adaptation to air internationally.
ZheJiang Satellite TV will produce 12 episodes to bow this year.
Format features men and women who compete in a dance challenge in an attempt to shed some flab.
Danish and South African versions of the program aired in 2010, and an Estonian version bowed this year. "Dance Your A** Off " is under license in Italy and optioned in Germany.
Other sales are in the pipeline, according to NBCUniversal.
Yvonne Pilkington, senior VP of formats and production for NBCUniversal Intl., said, "China and the wider Asian region is becoming a very active market for us. Our mix of game show formats, from dating to cookery to big production primetime shows, offers Asian broadcasters a diverse menu of choices to fit their audiences."
