Poster for the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival Released
Today, the Organizing Committee of the Shanghai International Film Festival released the poster for its 15th session. Centering around the Golden Goblet Award trophy and featuring a touch of Chinese red, the poster boasts a profound artistic conception, suggesting "Blending and Rebirth" and demonstrates how the Shanghai International Film Festival, with the Golden Goblet Award as its core in its 19-year history, has been voluntarily shouldering the duty of promoting multi-culture and the overall development of the industry. With its perseverance and dedication, the festival gradually "blends" into the best form and embraces a unique complete "rebirth".
Since its foundation in 1993, the Shanghai International Film Festival, as the only A-class international film festival in China, has made unswerving efforts and remarkable contributions to the innovation and development of the Chinese film industry. Now it has topped Asian film festivals in scale, growth and vitality. The films applying for the Golden Goblet Award are rich in themes, concerning reality and humanity, with both masters and new talents displaying spectacles from all over the world; The "Asian New Talent Award" will continue playing the role of "industry incubator" with an international perspective for Asian films, focusing on a perfect combination of creativity and productivity; the SIFF Market will try to build a varied and healthy film market, create a trade platform for the new media industry, get through the entire industrial chain and promote the categorized development of films; the SIFF Project will view raising new forces of Chinese films and push varied creations as its duty and continue discovering new talents and valuable projects; the SIFFORUM will invite as usual international celebrities in the field, to discuss heated topics and industrial problems; the Panorama, most beloved part by fans in the past, will bring more than 10 attractive screening units this year with more professional planning and positioning. Meanwhile, this year's mobile phone film festival has innovatively launched several wonderful sections such as a global short films contest, on-line micro-film selection, female micro-film and "iShanghai" micro-film shooting, exploring new channels of the industry; the high-profile "Classical film" part would put on screen three restored old Chinese films for the first time.
The poster for the 15th SIFF is designed based on the renewal and inheritance of the film culture in the sense of eastern philosophy by delicate use of a touch of Chinese red to convey a diversified connotation of "originality, recycle, integration and focus". The conflict and coexistence, integration and renewal of different cultures in different areas have successfully created the converging point for the cultural coexistence, which is fully compatible with the 19-year-long historical accumulation and cultural inheritance of the Shanghai International Film Festival. This not only provides a platform for the exuberant creation for Chinese and international films but also indicates endless possibility for originality and renewal. The Magnolia Cup as well as its beautiful reflection symbolizes a concept of loftier spiritual container which is no longer limited in Shanghai Film expression but is more of Chinese, Eastern even Global. This conveys the message that the ever-evolving SIFF is endeavoring to integrate the eastern art tradition into global cultural movements.
After a sequence of brainstorming, modifications and comparisons, Chenyuchen finalized the design of the poster for the 18th SIFF in Nov. 2011.
