The opening ceremony of the 19th Beijing College Student Film Festival (BCSFF) was held yesterday at Beijing Haidian Theater, Chinesefilms.cn reports.
Hosted by CCTV anchors Ren Luyu and Li Mi, the ceremony attracted many film industry figures, including Pang Wei, Commissioner of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television (BMRFT) and Vice Chairman of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF); Zhang Miao, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Vice President of the BJIFF Organizing Committee; and Ning Hao, the renowned director and graduate of Beijing Normal University.
As the image ambassador of the 19th BCSFF, Ning Hao gave a speech at the opening ceremony. He received his first-ever award at the 8th BCSFF when he was a college student and said it had served as a driving force in his career.
"I have gotten plenty of awards over the years, but none can measure the excitement of receiving my first award at BCSFF," Ning said.
BCSFF is organized by Beijing Normal University and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television. This annual event held during the spring is one of the most prestigious of China's four film festivals. The other three are the Shanghai International Film Festival, Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, and Changchun Film Festival.
A total of 173 films have been registered in the competition—a new record in BCSFF history. Awards will be issued on the film festival's closing day on April 26.
