9th Macao Chinese Film Festival Opens Up
The 9th Macao Chinese Film Festival kicked off Thursday night in UA Galaxy Cinemas of Macao SAR, with seven selected Festival movies to be screened during the next three days.
Highlights of the 2012 Macao Chinese Film Festival include the exclusive screening of Ma Liwen's romantic comedy, A Big Deal, which is the opening film of the Festival.
Another highlight will be The Star and the Sea. Set in Macao and directed by Li Qian Kuan, the award-winning movie tells the moving life story of Xian Xinghai, a famous Chinese musician who was born in Macao.
The Macao Chinese Film Festival is a well-established platform for promoting the world's fastest growing film industry and developing local cultural awareness in Macao, said Li Qian Kuan, president of China Film Foundation at the opening ceremony.
The annual Macao Chinese Film Festival is aimed at promoting the development of Chinese feature films and is organized by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the Department of Culture and Education Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao SAR, in conjunction with the China Film Foundation and Macao Media Advancement Association.
Throughout the Festival from March 23 to 25, A Big Deal, The Star and the Sea and Love for Life will be shown at UA Galaxy Cinemas, while Wentian I Wentian II, Yang Shan Zhou, Qin Jia Guo Nian and Qiu Xi will be shown at Wing Lok Cinemas in Macao.
